Authors After Dark Conference

I'm thrilled to say that I'll be attending AAD in Philly this year!! I'm very excited at the opportunity to meet with my fellow readers!! I'm also in last frantic days of promoting my newest book "Devoured by Darkness" Tomorrow I will be blogging over at Borders.com so if you have an opportunity I would love to have you stop by and say hi!

In other news my boys are now home for the holidays, which is wonderful, but means that not much writing is getting done :) I hope to find some time to sneak away to my office, but I have a feeling that it will have to wait until after the holidays!

I wish the happiest of holidays to all of you and the brightest of New Years! May all your dreams come true :)

4 1/2 Stars from RT :)

DEVOURED BY DARKNESS
by Alexandra Ivy

More clues to an approaching darkness are revealed in the newest installment of Ivy’s long-running and consistently excellent Guardians of Eternity series. New players are being added to Ivy’s world, ramping up the action. Ivy always packs her books with buckets of action, emotion and sexy sizzle; and the continuing presence of Levet, the mini gargoyle, is welcome comic relief. Another winner!

As Charon, or rogue vampire executioner, Tane is none too popular with his fellow vampires. His most recent assignment has him tracking a half jinn/half human named Laylah who was part of the recent werewolf debacle. According to the supernatural commission, half-jinn are abominations and not allowed to live, but feisty Laylah is not going down so easily. Coldhearted Tane suddenly finds his emotions unexpectedly thawing, but is their passion doomed? Evil vampire Marika is hunting Laylah for the secret she guards — a child wrapped in spells who may be the catalyst for the return of the terrifying Dark Lord.

October reads

Well, despite my ever increasing TBR pile, I just managed to spend a ridiculous amount of money on new books. How can I resist Lara Adrian and Larissa Ione and Kresley Cole, not to mention splurging on the new Brandson Sanderson (fantasy) as well as a pre-order for the new JR Ward. What about you all? Have you gone nuts yet???

Happy fall,

Yours For Eternity sneak peek

Stepping into the chilled night air, Victor paused, his senses instinctively searching the garden and shadowed mews for any hint of danger. At the same moment his gaze was busily savoring the sight of Juliet leaning against the stone railing.

As a vampire, Victor had no need for the moonlight to reveal the pure, delicate lines of her profile or the fire in her curls that were currently pulled into a knot at the back of her head. He did, however, fully appreciate the wash of silver light that shimmered over alabaster skin and added a hint of mystery to the pale emerald eyes.

His gaze lowered to her gown that was a delicate white lace over a gold sheath and cut in Grecian lines to emphasize the tempting mounds of her breasts. Then slowly his gaze lifted, lingering on the long, bare curve of her throat.

Victor’s fangs ached with a swift, brutal hunger.

Bloody hell. He had been too long without a woman.

With an effort, Victor resisted the urge to charge across the terrace and crush the female into his arms. Although she was not a practicing witch, and her imp blood was diluted, she did possess her own share of powers. Including the ability to resist his attempts to glamour her.

If he was going to lure her to his bed, it was going to take skill and patience.
For some ridiculous reason the knowledge sent a tingle of anticipation down his spine.

Madness.

Strolling forward, Victor allowed is gaze to boldly travel over her tense body, a faint smile curving his lips.

“Did you think you could hide from me, sweet Juliet?” he murmured.

The emerald eyes flashed with annoyance, but she couldn’t disguise the fluttering beat of her heart or the potent scent of her awareness.

Miss Juliet Lawrence might wish him in hell, but she desired him.

“Actually, I was attempting to avoid the sudden influx of vermin, my lord,” she drawled in overly sweet tones.

“Victor,” he corrected, not halting until he had her firmly trapped against the stone railing, his fierce gaze sweeping over her flushed face.

“I thought you were in Venice.” She tilted her chin, her expression defiant. “What are you doing here?”

“At the moment I am enjoying the very fine view,” he husked, his gaze never wavering from her wide eyes.

“I mean, what are you doing in London?”

“I should think it obvious. Tis hunting season.”

Her brows pulled together. “You are mistaken, my lord, hunting season ended weeks ago.”

His fingers lifted to trace the tender curve of her neck, his mouth watering.

“That all depends on the prey.”

She shivered, pressing against the railing in a futile attempt to escape his lingering touch.

“So you are here for the Season?”

“I am.”

“You have developed a taste for tender young debutantes?” she mocked. “I thought you preferred a more well-seasoned meal?”

His lips twitched at the bite in her tone. “There is no need for you to be jealous of my…”

“Harem?”

“Companions.” His fingers lingered at the pulse fluttering at the base of her throat, his senses drowning in the scent of peaches. “You need only say the word and there would be no others.”

“How many times must I tell you that I will never be a vampire’s blood-whore?” she rasped, her eyes flashing with fury.

Victor laughed. “Such crude language from such beautiful lips. Does it help you to deny your body’s hunger for my touch to pretend I am a monster?”

“There is no pretense. You are a monster.”

His lips twisted. He could hardly deny her claim.

He was a ruthless predator who killed without mercy and was willing to use whatever violence necessary to maintain his control of his clan.

That did not mean, however, he was incapable of appreciating a woman who stirred his most primitive needs. His gaze lowered to the soft thrust of her breasts, a shudder shaking through his body as the heat of her wrapped around him.

No. He it was more than mere appreciation.

Having her in his bed, tasting the potent power of her blood…it was rapidly becoming a necessity.

He groaned, his fingers following the enticing line of her bodice, his body hard with need.

“And yet your heart thunders and your knees tremble when I am near,” he husked. “You cannot hide your reaction to me.”

She trembled. “Disgust.”

“Desire.” He lowered his head, his lips brushing over her bare shoulder. “It perfumes the very air.”

Pressing toward the end

Still working on Tane's book and starting to plot for the anthology...I'm crazy busy, like everyone else :) but it doesn't really matter since it doesn't do anything but rain here :( I hope everyone else is enjoying their summer!

Any one have vacation plans??

Alex

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Sorry!!

I know I've been sadly lacking here, but Tane's story absolutely positively has to be out the door by the end of the month and I've been wrestling with the characters to get them toward the finish line...they can be such a pain sometimes :) My oldest son is also home for the summer which always adds excitment to the household (nothing like a house full of college aged guys who have no idea how to pick up after themselves...sigh). I promise to do better in the coming weeks!!

Hope all is well with you!

Just had to announce that BTD is STILL on the New York Times Bestseller list :) You guys ROCK!!!

Have a fantastic weekend!!
Alex

Monday, April 19, 2010

Monday

Okay, I got the computer up and running...I'm pretty sure it has all sorts of fun bells and whistles but I don't have time to check them out :) Tane's book needs to be in New York by the end of May and he's not cooperating at all...dang vampire. Or maybe it's all the other characters that keep popping up and making trouble!

I'll try to keep updates here, but I'm in deadline mode, so if I disappear for awhile there's no need to send out the rescue team. Although, if they happen to handsome, half dressed...no, no, no....have to concentrate....

Best,
Alex

Friday, April 16, 2010

Yow...

It's been quite a week :) My birthday...which was sensational!! And then I discovered BTD hit #19 on the New York Times bestseller list which absolutely stunned me...in a good way!! Then yesterday my computer crashed and I went into panic mode as I tried to save the essentials. Thank god I managed to get my work in progess saved, but now I have a new computer that I have to get set up and of course, learn how to use...booooooo. I'll try to pop back in when I get everything in order :)

Best to all,
Alex

A lovely review from Romance Junkies!

Opposites attract and that’s exactly what happens with Salvatore and Harley when they find out that they are meant to be more than just enemies.

Harley is not your average girl, she’s been deceived all of her life and she knows something isn’t quite right. Harley has been taught that Salvatore is her enemy and is out to kill her, but when she meets him face to face she finds out the truth is a different story all together. Now they must run from the ones who want to see them dead and in the process deal with the fact that they are meant to be mates.

Salvatore Giuliani is not your average were, he’s the king of the weres and instantly recognizes Harley as his mate. He thought he lost her and her sisters years ago when they were kidnapped from his nursery. Now that he has her back, he won’t let her go. First they have to get rid of the evil that is stalking them and trying to kill off his clan. Can he convince Harley that she should be ruling at his side?

Alexandra Ivy has an amazing knack for creating memorable characters and enticing plots. Salvatore has to be the sexiest thing on two or four legs. He has an alpha tendency that he was obviously born with and a deep seated sensuality that will knock your socks off. Harley is a straight forward butt kicking woman who is used to taking care of herself and relying on no one else. Her mistrust is blatant in the beginning, but as the story moves on we quickly learn why. Together this couple is TNT and then some and their love scenes are intense and smoking hot. This is the first book in the GUARDIANS OF ETERNITY series that I have read and I can honestly say that I am hunting down the other books to read as well.

Release Week & an apology

Yeah....It's finally, finally here :) I'm so excited. I hope everyone enjoys Salvatore's story...I had such fun writing it!

I also have to issue a blanket apology...if you emailed me in the past two days I need you to resend it :( I decided I absolutely had to have a new phone now I'm suffering through the pangs of learning technology that's way over my head. So far I've erased all my email and sent random texts to god only knows who. Eventually I'll figure it out and then it will be time for a new one :)

Have a fantastic week!

Lovely Review

As the King of the Weres, Salvatore Giuliani knows that with great power also comes great responsibility. For years he has been trying to find the lost purebred females that were stolen from his lab over three decades ago.

Harley has been listening to Caine tell her nightmarish stories of Salvatore for years. When the King shows up on the doorstep, her first instinct is to run but something tells her there is more to the story than him slaughtering her sisters and hunting her down.

Danielle
Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance & More

Salvatore is tired of being knocked out and kidnapped. When a sexy pureblood female captures him he soon finds himself in more trouble than before because the mating call is upon him and with it his powers are weakening. If he cannot get Harley to mate with him, he may not be able to destroy the supernatural being determined to wipe all Weres off the face of the earth. But how is he supposed to get a female to mate with him when she considers him a deadly enemy?

As part of the Guardians of Eternity series, Beyond the Darkness is full of rich characters from past stories as well as ones that will lead to future tales. Alexandra Ivy brings readers into her world that is full of alpha males, strong females, and a battle that is brewing between supernatural beings. I especially like how independent and strong-willed Harley is, pitting her stubbornness against a King who is determined to protect her at all costs. I cannot wait to see what other wonderful stories she has in store for us!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hello to all, I hope you're surviving the winter...we have snow, snow, and more snow expected...bleck. At least Valentine's Day is approaching! I think the husband and I will go out tonight rather than wait until Sunday. Not only will the restuarants hopefully be less packed, but there's yet another snow storm that's supposed to hit. We don't have any rituals for the holiday. I love that usual flowers and chocolates and of course, diamonds are always a fine choice :) but I know some couples who have special traditions. What about you???

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day!!

Invasion and important question

I'm being invaded today by workmen. We're in the process of having our bathroom redone and I put my foot down at having my husband try his hand at plumbing. I love him dearly, but there are just some things that need an expert :) We can handle putting in floors and painting walls and we even put in a new sink! Besides, when I hire someone I can tell them exactly what I want and if I don't like something and if something needs to be redone...the husband...well, not so much!!

I'm also busy working on Tane's story and trying to decide what I want to do for publicity for Salvatore's book. I'd love some imput! I can give away ARCs and blog and so forth, but what makes a reader excited? Is there something you love for an author to do? I really would love to hear your thoughts.

So the weather went from brutal cold to endless rain and fog...sigh. I need some pick me up, which always means good books!! I'm in the middle of Karen Chance's new one, and I intend to pick up Larissa Ione's when it hits the shelves. What books to I need to add to my list? Or even a movie that has recently come out on DVD? I just bought the Proposal, which I loved and Star Trek. Is there any others I need to check out?

Help me...please :)

On January 19th, Entwined by Fate the first in a innovative and sexy new series from S.A.Price releases. This series breaks the accepted boundaries on what is familiar in the shifter genre, by having Ophidians, or weresnakes as a focus.

Thirty females of the Ophidian race have gone missing, most from the transient nest of Las Vegas, a rogue and unofficial nest run by the Saint, John Merrick. Believed to be dead by every Archon in the states, Merrick leads a quiet and unassuming life, saving those of his race that are lost and need it most. It's a solitary existence, one that he hates every day. He yearns for his mate, the woman he left over a decade before, and the woman who thinks him dead to this day.

When Elise Rizdon gets the official invitation to the Archon meeting in Ohio by the leader of a new Midwestern nest, she never expected to see the love of her life at the woman's side, a man she was told was dead and buried. She lost him once upon a time, and she never fully recovered. Focusing on the issues, and not the man that has always made her body burn is not going to be easy. A disturbing event is on the horizon, one that threatens all Ophidian's and their way of life. In order to survive they will have to work together, give up old grudges and take chances on the things that matter most. Love, life and the continuation of their race.

Loose Ends

This weekend is organizing my oldest son...he has to go back to college on Sunday which means I have to get all his clothes washed and packed and then his room cleaned (I'm considering having a hazmat team come in and having the toxic waste hauled away :) On Monday I might actually have the house back to myself...like a gift from God!!! As much as I love my family having them underfoot for the past month has meant that my writing has been done in fits and spurts with constant interruptions. It will be a wonderful thing to have hours of uninterrupted writing time!!!

Of course, I might jjust find a place on the sofa, grab ahold of the remote control that I haven't touched in weeks and just vegggggggg. Oh, what a beautiful dream!!

In the trenches

I'm still trying to recover from the holidays. It's not easy when I still have the boys and their friends in the house...can you say 'toxic waste?' I am plugging away on the historical anthology which will have an appearance from Levet and I just finished up a story for the Mammoth Book of Regencies which includes some fabulous authors (I'll be writing under the name Alexandra Ivy). The weather's been so cold that it hasn't been worth getting out of the house :) On the plus side my enforced hibernation has led me to try a few new tv shows and I have to admit that I've fallen in love with Leverage!! And of course, I'm excited about the return of the Ghost Hunters International!

What about you all? Have you found a new show or author that's helped chase away the winter blues???
