I've heard of steam punk before but can some please tell me what that is? Can I get an example of a book that is steam punk?

The only steam punk I've read so far is Soulless by Gail Carriger. I enjoyed it a lot.
I'm looking forward to Meljean Brook's Iron Duke this fall.
I am not sure if this is a genre that I hope takes off or not...
Do you have your eye on something?
Steph, I always think of it as The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen...or Jules Verne. I've started to notice some mainstream para authors are dabbling in the genre and I thought I might check out a few, but I really didn't know where to start :)
I've got Soulless in my TBR but the steampunk title I am most looking forward to is Steamed by Katie MacAlister.
