Another lovely review :
http://unitedbybooks.blogspot.com/2011/12/review-for-bound-by-darkness-by.html
Jaelyn is the kind of leading lady I love! She is a sarcastic, strong lady, but underneath it all is just a woman with a passionate and vulnerable side. Ariyal turns into quite the leading man. I love how Ivy’s leading men are never Prince Charmings, but show they have flaws. The banter and chemistry sizzles amongst the pages and you start rooting for the couple to overcome all obstacles. I wish there were more scenes with Levet. That is my only complaint. There is something about that little French gargoyle that always brings a smile to my face. Maybe it's because he catches all the ladies hearts, while irritating the males. This book has it all demons, spirits, wizards, trolls, ogres and zombies, Oh my! Ivy also gives you a taste of whats to come with Santiago and Nefri. The peek behind the veil has you wanting to see what will happen and leaves you wishing you could see it now. This Guardian's of Eternity fan will be holding her breath till I get my next fix in the world Ivy has created!

A lovely reveiw :)
Alexandra Ivy's characterization of these lovers is excellent. Hunters like Jaelyn endure brutal training and are bound by a strict code that governs their lives. It's literally beaten into them that intimacy and choosing a mate are forbidden. Jaelyn has many emotional scars from her difficult life, but she also has a conscience. The tough-as-nails, lethal killer is vulnerable. Ariyal has his own skeletons related to his past enslavement to the sadistic Morgana le Fey. He's also an extremely appealing hero: He has stunning bronze eyes, amazing strength and abilities and a magical, sensual aura that wraps around a reader. Together, Ariyal and Jaelyn wield significant power, and their sexual chemistry simmers and boils off the page. Witty, sarcastic banter adds good fun to an enemies-turned-lovers theme.
A subplot involves the über-seductive vampire Santiago (I loved this guy), who is tasked with finding the missing Cassandra, a powerful werewolf prophet whose trail is extremely illusive. Santiago is assisted by Nefri, an extraordinary, immortal vampire with a fascinating background. I'm looking forward to reading the next books in the series to see what Alexandra Ivy has in store for these two!
Alexandra Ivy embeds snippets of Arthurian legend in an imaginative, complex paranormal world. A variety of intriguing characters — including, mages, vampires, werewolves, fey, demons, spirits, wizards, trolls, ogres and, let's not forget, some nasty zombies resurrected by a necromancer (oh my!) — help advance the fast-paced plot. And there is Levet, an endearing miniature gargoyle with a French accent, who is a favorite recurring character in the series. Much to Ariyal's chagrin, Levet wheedles his way into Jaelyn's heart, which isn't easily won.
Witty sarcasm provides laugh-out-loud dialogue and introspection that lightens even the darker scenes. Magic enhances ancient weaponry used in a number of well-choreographed action and battle sequences. Bound by Darkness is an exciting page-turner, and I found Alexandra Ivy's world extremely creative and clever. Ariyal and Jaelyn face nasty antagonists and dark evil, but at the end of the day readers are not left wanting for a special HEA.
Bound by Darkness is the eighth book in the Guardians of Eternity series and the first Alexandra Ivy story I have read. I think this book could be enjoyed as a stand-alone, as the author provides considerable background development and explanation of the world's vernacular. This reader is definitely looking forward to reading more about the Guardians of Eternity.

A taste of Werewives :)
Troy, prince of imps, was a large, muscular man with the build of a professional wrestler and the fashion taste of a drag queen. At the moment he was attired in silver spandex pants and a see-through jade shirt that gave a nice glimpse of his broad chest.
His long, brilliant red hair flowed down his back like a river of fire and his emerald eyes danced with a wicked sense of humor that was contagious.
He was like an exotic butterfly who oozed a blatant sensuality.
“Mmm…” he drawled as Sophia halted next to him, his gaze never wavering from the nearby dancers. “Delectable as always, my love.”
Reaching out she slapped his hand. “No touching the merchandise, Troy.”
The imp pouted, but dropping his arm he turned to face her. “But you know how I love them tall, blond, and furry.”
“You love them any way you can get them.”
“True.” Troy ran his hands down his shirt, licking his lips. “A wise imp swims with the tide.”
She snorted. Troy did a lot of swimming with the tide. Which, of course, meant that he had connections throughout the demon world.
And that was precisely why Sophia had contacted him a few days before.
“Did you bring what I asked?”
With a chuckle that should have given her ample warning he gave a lift of his hand, motioning toward a nearby doorway.
“Don’t I always deliver?”
Her lips parted, but her words were forgotten as a man stepped from the shadows.
No, not a man…a pureblooded Were, she quickly corrected, catching the feral scent of his wolf. And so sinfully gorgeous that he made her heart slam against her ribs.
She covertly clenched her hands as he strolled forward. What the hell was wrong with her?
Her entire life had been filled with handsome, powerful men. All of them anxious for the opportunity to impress her. Whether it was to earn the right to breed with her. Or just to enjoy a few wicked nights of pleasure.
But she couldn’t recall ever feeling as if she’d just stepped off the edge of a cliff and was plummeting through thin air.
Was that why she couldn’t breathe?
More than a little disturbed by her unwelcomed reaction, she warily studied the stranger.
He was handsome, but it wasn’t the polished elegance of her dancers.
The blue black hair was cut short, as if he couldn’t be bothered to mess with it, but the severe style only emphasized the stark male beauty of face. His skin was the rich bronze that came from Latin heat and his eyes more black than brown.
He was taller than her, perhaps six foot, but he was thick with muscles that rippled beneath the skin-tight black T-shirt that was matched with a pair of black combat pants.
Ruthless.
The word whispered through her mind at the same moment his potent heat wrapped around her, enflaming her blood with a pulsing awareness she hadn’t felt in decades.
“Good…god,” she muttered.
Troy cleared his throat, doing a piss poor job of hiding his amusement.
Jackass.
“Sophia, this is Luc. Luc, Sophia.” The imp waved a languid hand toward the massive Were. “Isn’t he just to die for?”
Sophia’s gaze clashed with the burning black gaze, her skin suddenly feeling too tight for her body.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
This Were was trouble with a capital T and the very last thing she needed.

AAD
Had an insanely wonderful time in Philly. The city is beautiful and the conference (Authors After Dark) was wonderful! It's not often you can spend four days with readers and bloggers who all read and love the same books that you do. And the other authors were so gracious. Lara Adrian and Larissa Ione are absolutely fantastic! The endured my 'fan-girl' moments without once calling for security :) And poor Kayla Gray allowed me to cling to her despite the fact I was a complete stranger! Dakota Cassidy is as beautiful and funny as you would think and Erin Kellison just as sweet. I also have to say thanks to Caridad Pineiro who took me to a delectable Mexican restaurant. And there were so many others who I'll talk about in later posts :)
Of course, it was the readers who truly make such an event so special. A writer's life is amazingly isolated (unless you count all those voices in our heads) and to have an opportunity to speak with those who share that world you have created is an amazing experience.
I came home with some yummy, yummy goodies (books by Lara, Larissa, Erin, Dakota...) so I intend to have a blow out contest when it gets closer to the release date of Bound by Darkness.
Stay tuned,
Alex

Lovely Review!
Thanks to Fresh Fiction and reviewer Diana Troldahl!!!
"Packed with Hot and Sexy Vibes, Spiced with Danger"
Alexandra Ivy has another winner in DEVOURED BY DARKNESS. This seventh in the Guardians of Eternity series is packed with hot and sexy vibes and spiced with danger. Tane will have what he wants, Laylah is just as determined to keep what she needs. It is fascinating to watch the two of them come together as the plot unfurls around them. An interesting cast of secondary characters adds layers of complexity to the over-arching and tightly plotted storyline. Ivy has written one of the best urban fantasy series out there.

Happy Easter!!
I'm still in the midst of copy edits and preparing for the return of sons from college, but I wanted to take a minute to wish Dante all the best on his debut in France :) I hope they're ready for the Guardians!
I also wanted to take a minute to wish everyone who celebrates Easter or passover a wonderful weekend with family and friends. Hopefully it's better weather for all of you...it's suppose to rain for the foreseeable future. Why is it the weatherman is always wrong when it's supposed to be sunny and never wrong when they call for rain...sigh.
Anyway...here's to chocolate bunny and maybe a nice bottle of wine :)
Best,
Alex

Uriel's sneak peek :)
CHAPTER ONE
LONDON, ENGLAND
Uriel had very specific plans for the upcoming evening.
First up, dinner in bed with a luscious, golden-haired fairy who tasted like champagne and boasted skills that could make a vampire howl like a damned werewolf. Even without a full moon.
Next on the agenda, a round of sparring with the latest batch of foundlings that had arrived in London. In the past few years Victor, the clan chief of Great Britain, had instituted a law that demanded all recently created vampires must spend at least the first decade of life being trained at his lair. And since Uriel was second in command, as well Victor’s best warrior, it meant it was his duty to oversee their fighting lessons.
And if there was time left before dawn, he intended to meet with the soldiers who had recently returned from their hunt in northern England.
Since rumors of the return of the Sylvermyst had spread through the demon world, Victor had sent out nightly patrols to search for the evil cousins of the fey. It aggravated the hell out of Uriel that he wasn’t allowed to take his place in the chase.
Unfortunately when he’d accepted his position as Victor’s right hand man, he had given up his place in the field. Now he was stuck plotting strategy, drawing up scout rotations, and researching the history of the Sylvermyst in the massive library beneath Victor’s lair on the outskirts of London.
He was also on call 24/7 to his chief.
Which was why he was headed through the vast labyrinth of hallways, dressed in a pair of faded jeans and a sweatshirt, instead of lying naked on his bed with a beautiful fairy doing bad, bad things to his eager, eager body.
Climbing the marble staircase and strolling down the crimson carpeted hallway, Uriel ignored the priceless Greek statues and pictures that lined the walls and the explosion of gilt that framed the arched windows.
He understood Victor’s need for a gaudy display of wealth and power, but damn. A man could get a brain cramp from such an overexposure of frou-frou.
Especially those damned frescos that were painted on the lofted ceiling.
Uriel grimaced. The images of angels with fiery swords defending a gaggle of humans against a horde of demons might be some sort of priceless work of art, but to Uriel it was a never ending source of annoyance.
He was a brutal killer and a ruthless enemy to those who would threaten his clan. But for all his grim reputation, he was cursed with finely carved features and a halo of curls that perfectly matched his light brown eyes.
As beautiful as a fallen angel…
He’d heard those words a thousand times over the past four centuries.
Sometimes they were a sigh on a woman’s lips. And sometimes a mocking taunt from his brothers.
They always managed to make him want to hit something.
Really, really hard.
Stepping into the vast library, Uriel halted in the middle of the fancy-ass carpet and watched as Victor lifted himself from behind the heavy walnut desk and crossed toward a matching side board.
He wasn’t the hulking brute that most people expected of a clan chief. Actually, dressed in a silk shirt and black slacks he looked every inch the English aristocrat with his elegantly carved features and glossy black hair pulled into a neat braid.
But a closer inspection revealed the hard muscles beneath the designer clothing and the promise of death that lurked in the pale silver eyes rimmed with black.
Victor was a predator.
Pure and simple.
“Uriel, join me,” the ancient vampire commanded, turning from the sideboard to press a small glass of amber spirits in his hand. “Salud.”
The aged cognac slide down Uriel’s throat as smooth as honey. Liquid fire.
“Martell,” Uriel breathed with a lift of his brow, easily recognizing the expensive liquor. “I’m afraid to ask.”
Victor leaned against the sideboard, his arms folded over his chest.
“Excuse me?”
“You only break out the good stuff when you want something. Usually something that includes blood, death, and/or mayhem.”
“Is that any way to speak to your beloved clan chief?”
Uriel snorted. “I will agree that you’re my clan chief.”
Victor sipped his cognac, a somber expression settling on his lean face.
“We have been through interesting times, haven’t we, old friend?”
Uriel’s vague unease became downright apprehension. Despite his vast age, Victor wasn’t prone to maudlin musings.
So, what the hell was going on?
“Some more interesting than others,” he slowly admitted, setting aside the Waterford crystal glass.

New Week
I'm still busily typing away at Ariyal and Jaelyn's story, a small spoiler is that is has a large dose of Santiago in it :) I'm also beginning to work on the outline for my story in The Real Werewives of Vampire County...it's going to be a fun story with Sophia (the bitchy mother of Harley, Darcy, Regan and Cassandra!) She meets her match in Luc...a yummy Were from Miami. I'm excited to sit down and write it!
The snow has at last melted, although it remains cold and rainy here...still, I'm just so happy I can get out and go without worrying about ending up in a ditch!
I hope spring is being kinder to all of you :)
Best,
Alex

A Belated Valentine from Troy, Prince of Imps :)
Troy, the Prince of Imp’s Top Ten Valentine Day Tips
10. Love might not be for sale, but I am.
9. Bling, bling, bling. Oh yeah, did I forget the bling?
8. A Valentine Day without chocolate is like sex without a partner.
7. An imp in hand is worth forty fairies in a bush. Trust me, I’ve had both.
6. Need shopping tips? Always trust a drag queen.
5. You can judge a man by the champagne he orders. Cristal Brut = keeper!
4. Looking good is more important than being good.
3. Only a real man can rock the spandex.
2. Love was meant to be shared. And shared. And shared.
1. Every day is better with a bit of magic!

Snow
So it's snowing...AGAIN. I need some sort of cure for the winter blues :) It's been cold and miserable here for weeks and I'm ready for some sun and fun! Next year I'm going to conferences that hit around mid January and last until March! Even worse, my mother is getting ready to head off to Florida and she just can't resist reminding me of her upcoming trip every opportunity she gets :) Brat. I hope you all are staying warm and have a ton of great books to keep you company!

Flu Bug
I've been stricken...arrrg. I've had a nasty bug for the past week and while I'm slowly recovering it's been a true pain. On the other hand, I've discovered you can write while high on flu medicine, although I'm afraid to go back and read what I've scribbled :) Our nasty, gray weather hasn't helped, and I'm longing for spring already!!
I hope you all are having a better January!

Plugging Away :)
Sorry I've been hit or miss lately, I'm struggling with a couple of deadlines that are killer :) It's almost impossible to write with hubby and two college-aged boys constantly underfoot and while I've loved having them around, I'm equally happy to have my house back to myself so I can get some work done...of course first I have to disinfect the three weeks of abuse, starting with the bathrooms :)
On the work side I'm finishing up the short story for the Supernatural anthology. The story will be Uriel's who is on the hunt for Laylah's missing mother! I also bring back Yannah from Devoured by Darkness. (The spirit, or so we think :)
Next up is Ariyal and Jaelyn's story! I've already started and I'm having a great time with the two of them.
Hope everyone is having the happiest of new years!
Best,
Alex
