"Ah." He gave a ridiculous wiggle of his thick brow. "In that case, I do not suppose you are imagining I'm Brad Pitt?"

"No you are thinking of Mr. Tall, Dark, and Dead. Your mushy brain is so filled with him it is making me nauseous."

"Cherie, did the table do something I did not see or were you just attempting to teach it a lesson?"

My husband often has fights with inanimate objects. I'll always ask him who won LOL!

although levet is a great character with plenty of snippy, quick witted responses, i love him most when he's being sincere. there's a line when he's talking to the water sprite in "embrace the darkness" and he's explaining what a friend is:
"Someone who cares about you, even if you don't deserve to be cared about."

but if i had to choose a funny one, it would be when everyone is about to open the box shay and viper found in the witch's shop in dante and abby's library:
"What's in the box?"
"Obviously, we don't know yet."
"Is it going to take long?"
"It will take as long as it takes."
"Are we having snacks?"
"Levet, shut up."
"Well, if we have to wait around all night there could at least be snacks."

I have two and I just can't decide between them...ugh...
"Do you think?" Levet slapped his hands on his hips and regarded her with a narrowed gaze. " Oh, wait. Why would we leave when we can linger in the backyard of our enemies and play suck face with whatever vampire happens by? And after that we can douse ourselves with gasoline and play with matches. The fun as they say, never ends.
#2 Levet heaves a sigh. " Well, damn. I can't kill the vampire. I can't kill the troll. I hate to waste a good wish. Maybe I should go pillage a nearby village. The local maidens would no doubt appreciate my new, very manly, physique."

i'm also a big fan of, "Do not thank me. Well, not unless it is in the form of cash. You cannot believe how difficult it is for a gargoyle to earn a decent living in this town."

Do I really have to choose just one?! Levet is the most hilarious character I've read yet. Everything he says either makes me laugh or really think. So my favorite line by him ....everything!!!!!!!

"Ouch. No need to pinch the wings." Pulling free the gargoyle gave a flutter of his delicate wings. "If you want to plunge into danger and get the rest of us killed, then so be it."

I can't pick just one! I love Levet! I love how he just says what he thinks and how sincere he is. Okay, I like this one:

"What are you doing?" the creature demanded, his voice thick with an astonishing french accent as he waved the card board in the air. "We have not finished the game. You must tell me how many vowels you wish to purchase."....
"We'll finish later."
"Later?" There was a spat of french curses. "My audition could be any day. There is no later."
"Of course there is," Darcy soothed with remarkable patience. Just as if she were humoring a petulant child. "I've told you, Levet, it's Bob Parker who retired, and I might add, has already been replaced, not Vanna White.".......
"Ah this Vanna White is a human is she not? She could drop dead at any moment."

There are so many, and I love it whenever he makes an appearance, but one of my favorites is when Levet is sniffing Ana to determine what she is and Darcy is telling him not to do that.

"You said that scratching my privates in public wasn’t polite. Now I cannot even sniff the guests? You are such a buzz-kiss."

"Cherie, did the chair do something I did not see or were you just attempting to teach it a lesson?"

He has a sense of humor that keeps your side aching and your love for him growing from the very first smart butted comment. =)

Levet rolled his eyes heavenward. "Holy Mother of God." Shay frowned as the gargoyle grabbed a loaf of freshly baked bread and headed toward the door. "Where are you going?"

"To find shelter from the coming storm!"

There was another roar and Shay pressed a hand to her cramped stomach. "You just promised you would remain to protect me."

Levet sent her a raspberry. "You wrecked a mans Porsche. You are on your own."

Levet's spellcasting is kinda sketchy so when he gets one right - he's excitable...in Embrace the Darkness, Viper is in a fight with Lu that could expose them to sunlight. Levet cast a dark cloud spell to cover it - and it works. His response is..

"It worked. By my father's stone balls, it worked."

The image from that line still has me howling!!!

I love Levet...one of my favorite lines..although there are many is from Darkness Everlasting...
"As mush as I hate to break up this movie-of-the-week moment, I really think we should shake a leg."

Everytime I think of this line I crack up and ROTFL!!!
"Shay pressed a hand to her cramped stomach. 'You just promised you would remain to protect me.'

Levet sent her a raspberry. 'You wrecked a mans Porsche. You are on your own.'"
and Viper's 'rage' when he comes in! *cracks up hysterically again*
Great Job Alex!!! *high fives*

“And what’s up with them always getting the girl?” Levet groused. “Oh sure, they’re tall and they have those cool fangs. And I suppose a few aren’t entirely repulsive, but look at me.” His wings gave a delicate flutter. “What woman in her right mind wouldn’t think that I’m three feet of delicious goodness?”

He is so cute!

I also love Levet and his attitude :). From Darkness Everlasting when Styx was going through Darcy's purse looking for her drivers license :

"Wow. She's a beauty, even in a drivers license picture. I wonder how she feels about interspecies dating. You know I'm a good catch..."

and in the same book regarding Levet's response to the dog:

"Are you deranged? I am three feet tall with magic that sucks and little girly wings. I am frightened of everything."

darkness revealed has some great levet lines: "where is this cell? i have better things to do than go around playing christopher columbus."
"christopher columbus?"
"i think he means colombo."

"i'm french, cezar. females always find me cute. it is both a blessing and a curse."

"it's rude, is what it is. you don't just make a portal in the middle of someone's bedroom without permission. what if we were... you know. Don't look at me like that, it's entirely possible."

anna: are all demons trained to be stubborn or is it something that just comes naturally?
levet: it is all natural, of course. just like my beauty."

Reading all the above comments made me giggle all over again. Levet has some of the best one liners in the books, but I have to admit for me it is still the "kissy face" comment. It was my first Levet laugh out loud moment and it really primed me for the character.

Mine has been used, but it's so funny it doesn't hurt to repeat it.
"It worked...By my father's stone balls, it worked". Levet is one of the funniest characters in any of the book series I read... which means you, Alex, have the best sense of humor. Love it.
