Getting together with family and enjoying a cookout or just eating together and then heading to City Park for the yearly fireworks display. It's a rare thing for me. I work retail and haven't had the 4th off since I started work. This is the first one in 6 years.

My favorite fourth of July tradition is BBQing with the family at home, light up some fireworks afterwards watching all the family kids get together and just be kids. There's nothing better on the holidays than spending time with the family and having those memories to cherish in the future.

Mine's making homemade ice cream. And setting off crazy fireworks if it's safe weather wise :)

We usually head over to the next state (Missouri) to buy tons of fireworkds (it's illegal to sell the big boys in IA), then try to cross state line without getting caught by the cops. Once 4th is here, our whole block would throw a party and everyone try to out-do each other with the best show. We usually have contest to see which house was the most lethal and shined the brightest. Happy 4th of July to you and yours Alex!!!

When I was a kid my small town used to have a 4th of July day. The fire deptartment did bbq, their were games, and craft booths. Even a dunk tank!! Then everyone would fill up the practice football field to watch the fire works. The grand finale always ended with a firework flag display. ah, I miss those days! Now, it's time at my brother's house on the lake. Not quit the same, but the kids love it and I enjoy seeing the fireworks on the lake.

Fireworks when it gets dark...and then poker and margaritas to celebrate another year of Independence...and the fact that (after a quick check) everyone still has all their digits! ROFL!! :)

As a child, my favorite tradition for 4th of July was playing with the sparklers. They were great fun! My twin sister and I would create "pictures' with them in the air. And then when our younger brother (younger by 2 yrs) was old enough to play as well, we taught him how to draw w/ them.

Now, as an adult and waiting to finalize our adoption for our kids, I'm looking forward to continuing this tradition and adding more!!!

Our 4th of July is the one day of total relaxation. No work talk and no bill talk. We have Friends and Friends of friends and family over.
The guys at bar-b-q and set up firework display area, they ladies cooking and catching up in the kitchen and the kids giggle in the sprinler with snowcones (thats my favorite. I love giggles) We end the day with the colective fireworks.

We have a family BBQ/birthday party for my Father in Law as his birthday is the 3rd. Then if it isn't to dry out we join in with the rest our neighbors and set off fire works ourselvs since we are in city limits and not county limits! It is always tons of fun!

On years like this one that it is too dry and there is a burn ban in place...we just sit back enjoy the company and watch the 4 different fireworks shows we can see from our house. They are a little far off but still super fun!

How we celebrate July 4th really depends on where Uncle Sam has us living. In Alaska we didn't have fireworks because of the daylight, in North Carolina our kids got to see fireworks for the first time(they were 5 and 7 at the time), and now we are in Wyoming but there is a fireworks ban(definitely need the ban though). I guess this year we will just have a BBQ and get ready for my hubby's deployment on the 12th.

We always have a big party and fly in live crawfish - my husband is from New Orleans. Since we live in Florida, this is a bigger deal than you think. We also cook a big Cuban style in a China Box. Everyone brings a dish to share and we hang out all afternoon and night. We shoot off fireworks when it gets dark. It's a lot of fun!
