Love your books! My favorite memory is from a couple of years ago. My boyfriend, my oldest son, my daughter and I went to Pier 39 in San Francisco for the fireworks. San Francisco and Oakland shoot their fireworks simultaneously so you get a double light show over the San Francisco Bay. It's an awesome sight.

My favorite 4th of July memory. That's easy! Our family has a tradition of having fruit salad with every big holiday meal. I have a wicked sense of humor, so I decided that our 4th of July fruit salad needed a little something extra. Sooooo, I got out the food coloring and colored some of it red, left the white of course, and some of it blue and served it in the bowl as red, white, and blue. You would be surprised how many people have an aversion to eating red and blue fruit salad!!!

My favorite memory would have to be when my whole family was over and we were setting fireworks off in the driveway. Acting like the dorks we are, everyone was saying 'Oooooo' and 'aaaaaah' after every firework went off. My hearing impaired grandfather finally stood up and cried ' I don't get it! Why is everyone saying MOO?!?!' Afterwards, the 'oooo's turned into 'mooos' for the rest of the night.

Looking forward to your new books!! My favorite 4th memory is watching the fireworks from a boat on the lake. The reflection of the fireworks in the water was really beautiful!!

Okay after reading everyone else I feel kinda... boring.
We normally go to our neighbor's house (they have small children) and we watch them pop fireworks. We cook and hang out... but this year, my daughter is not with us (she is away) and my husband has been away... So we are staying inside all weekend ;)
Thanks for the chance! And Happy Fourth to Everyone!!!

We've seen fireworks in some pretty awesome locations but I'm hoping this year is the best ever! We're stationed in DC and I'm crossing my fingers that fireworks over the city will be worth all the headache. My brother, also stationed here, assures me that it's an pretty cool show.

I was 14 and it was the Bi-Centennial so fireworks were amazing. They were launched over the Niagara River via Artpark in Lewiston NY. Very best ever.

Hello Alexandra,
Thank you for the ARC contest.
I always smile when I remember the time I got my older brother ( I was in 4th grade and he was in the 11th) and his friends to stop watching their ball game on tv and take over churning ice cream for me on the back porch. It was the old-fashioned bucket with the manual handle! There were four guys and the last one who could still turn the crank would get the ladle loaded with the frozen treat all to himself when I opened the canister. I wish I had had a video camera then. They turned the crank until it was frozen so hard that none of them could move it anymore. Then they started arguing about who got it to move a little bit more. They were egging each other on and making a lot of noise because none of them could move it another inch. Then my Daddy came out to the porch to see what was going on. You guessed it. He turned the crank another full revolution! Everything got real quiet after that and I had the best peach ice cream I have ever eaten.
Take care and make lots of new 4th of July memories.

Hi Alexandra

Love your books of course!!! My parents were born and raised in Ireland therefore as a child I never really was taken to fireworks unless my friends took me....however now that I am a mother I took my children who are 5 and 3 for the first time to see the fireworks and seeing it through their eyes and hearing their gasps was the most blessed thing to watch!!!

Being from Hawaii 4th July really isn't that big of a deal down here but I do have one favorite memory. It was a couple years ago when my Uncle invited me and a few friends to go camping with him at Ala Moana Beach Park for that weekend to see the fireworks. It was my first time camping so I was a little scared and I didn't think I was going to enjoy myself but to my amazement I loved it. What also shocked me was the amount of people who actually do camp the whole weekend for this event as well as how many people come on that night just to see the fireworks. The beach was packed with people every where some were even standing in the water. And the firework show was amazing not as grand as the ones on the mainland but just as good.

It's gotta be the first time I saw fireworks for real. Living in the country we didn't see much other than maybe some firecrackers or smoke bombs. Then when I was about 10 for some forgotten reason the family found outselves in the big city of Columbus, OH at Aunt Helen's. Dad took us to the roof of our aunts apartment building and you could see them all over the city - big and litte displays - one of the most fantastic things I'd ever seen!!!

My favorite July 4th memories are from when I was a child, the family would all go down to the beach and watch fireworks being shot off the end of the pier.

Greetings Alexandra!! I have read all your books and cherish each one!
My favorite 4th of July would have to be my son's second Fourth of July. Harrison (my son) was a 15 months old, and we had a lovely picnic. We then went to a baseball game and watched the fireworks. Harrison was in total awe. Watching the excitement in his face was unforgetable. Just Hubby, me and our son.

Hey Alexandra!! I have had several great 4th of July but the one that sticks out in my mind is one back in the early 90s. I am Canadian and we celebrate Canada Day July 1 so this particular year a bunch of my friends decided we needed to have a road trip weekend. They drove up to where I live just outside of Toronto and celebrated Canada Day then we all hopped into cars and drove to Buffalo for July 2, Vermont for July 3 and made it to Bar Harbor ME for the 4th where we celebrated by all jumping into the Atlantic and attending a HUGE Lobster beach Party. It was terrific!! Oh did I mention that I meet this tall dark gentleman who made the trip extra special:)..
Hope this year is your best July 4th ever!...Cheers Barbara.

We don't do anything special for fourth of July anymore, except for barbeque every once in a while. But we used to go on base every year for fireworks. We'd arrive early to get a good spot and lay out the blanket and set up the chairs. Then we'd stand in line forever for a funnel cake. Yum! And then my sister and I would play around, sometimes with the little flags and ribbons, while waiting. One year we brought my best friend along and she was scared of the fireworks. Good times!

My Fav. 4th of july memory was in 1997 when I went into labor with my son at 11:00 am and did not have him until 1:27 am on the 5th. My husband is born on the 4th and we really wanted to have our son on the 4th but you can never make your body do what you want.
I love you books so much I have my 16 year old reading them too.

Hey Alexandra, hopeyour having a great weekend. My favorite memory for fourth of july memory is from a few years ago. my family and i dedcided to go to the lake with a bunch of close friends and grill out, shoot fire works, and have a good time. so we boat to this island in the middle of the lake and we are just about to eat when it starts storming. so the owners of the boat choose it was best if the younger kids and a few adults went inland first. by this time it is absolutely pouring and the water is crazy looking (it was black and the waves were huge). so i tag along with the first batch and we get to about the middle of the lake before the boat started to take on water. we made it inland but we left a good twenty people on the island. it was an hour before they could be picked up. all the food was saved though as were the fireworks so we continued the party inland which was just as much fun!!!! hope you have a great and dry fourth =D

Well I don't really think I have a favorite I most remember the ones with my girls. We didn't have a lot of money so we usually hung around the house and shot a few off and then cook some hotdogs on the grill. I was a single parent for MANY years and enjoyed EVERY holiday with my girls and now my oldest is 20 (about to be 21) and going thru officers training in Washington State for ROTC and when she finishes her last year she will go in the Army as an officer. (she got a full scholarship) My other girl who is 10 loves to run around with sparklers and watch my husband (who I knew 21 years ago in high school and reconnected with) and I shoot off the more dangerous ones. So I guess that I miss the old times with my "little" girls but am enjoying these new memories I'm making with my new life and am sad for having to let go of my "little" girl, who's not so "little" anymore, and let her start making her own memories :<

Hi Alexandra, My favorite memory isn't one particular year, but every Fourth, when my kids were old enough, we would go up on the roof (kids were constantly monitored) and watched fireworks in the East, West, South and North. We'd have snacks and drinks and put a blanket out to sit on. We also brought a radio and played a station that played patriotic tunes to set the mood.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful and safe Fourth.

Hey Alexandra! I am really excited about this contest because you know how much I love reading your books! hehe woo hoo! hehe

My favorite 4th of July memory...hmm...I never really cared for the 4th July since I lived in a building my whole life, but that changed when I met my husband.

When we moved and had kids I would have to say the one year we were in Vermont at the town fair. I was with my four year old son (who was two at the time) and we were having such a great time getting on the rides, watching the live shows and eating so much junk food lol.

When it was time for the fireworks I will never forget my sons face. At first he was scared, but then he was so excited over the big lights and designs that every time something went off he would pull my hand and point so I can look. I remember him laughing so hard and jumping up and down. Ever since that night my thoughts on July 4th changed.

I still don't really celebrate, but I take my son to see the fireworks in town and BBQ at the in laws. No parade or anything fancy hehe. :-) He loves it!

My best 4th of July memories were going to big family picnics as a child and seeing fireworks at the mall. Simple, but wonderful! I miss those days.

Favorite memory was in 2002 visiting friends in Atlanta, GA. They lived in a super post subdivision (the one where Tom Cruise has a home) and their subdivision does a huge fireworks display on the 4th. We had a big quilt, wine and cheese, and enjoyed the show. It was awesome!

Thanks!

I love your books- ok favorite memory has to be from 20 years ago when my (LOL) now ex-husband proposed to me. We were driving to Memphis to visit relatives and to watch the fireworks over the Mississippi River.

Better late than never...I love, love, love your books as well! My favorite 4th of July memory - that would be the first year my husband and I lived in San Francisco. Up until then we had lived in Georgia (the hot south). We dressed for the heat and instead ended up buying Peruvian sweaters at the SF Wharf on the waterfront because it was so cold! In the end, we did not even get to see the fireworks because the fog was so thick! I absolutely loved it; what an experience!

Hi Alexandra! I hope you Forth was a good as ours.
As for my favorite memory for this years forth. My "niece" got to come home from the Navy this year, which also happened to be her 21st b-day so we threw her a party, of course, combining ALL 3 events. During the party, we broke out the b-day cake which was proudly displayed in red, white & blue & as the 1st piece of cake was being handed to the b-day girl, someone (I wonder who that could have been.. haha) came up & smashed the cake in her face which led to an all out cake "food fight". After which, the entire kitchen & about 15 guests were completly covered in red, white & blue.

Hi Alexandra, hope I'm not too late. Love your books!

My favorite is this year, it the first year that my kids didn't cry or cover their ear. Plus my husband family all came to the picnic. (very unusual) there was drama "always seems to be with is family" but all in all it was a fun night! they had a fire work that was a circle with a heart in it. that was awesome and my 8 year old saided

Hi Ms. Ivy!!! I'm a NEW fan of yours. I am loving your books (thanks). My favorite 4th of July memory has to be when I was really young enjoying going to the beach with my mother when she was alive and doing BBQs. Watching mom work that grill and waiting for the burgers and hot dogs to be done. It's not the same any more now that she's not here but I still have those wonderful memories.
