Taste of New Series....The Sentinels!!
Kansas City, KS
Sergeant Duncan O’Conner was late to the party.
Nursing a hangover from hell, he took two painkillers with a gallon of hot coffee and steered his POS cop car through the light Sunday traffic and entered the gated community in the southwest suburbs.
The call had hit his cell phone at three in the afternoon. An hour before he’d hauled his sorry ass out of the bed. It’d taken another half hour under the shower to peel his throbbing eyes open and get rid of the stench of cheap whiskey and even cheaper cigars.
His first thought had been to call in and tell them to find someone else. Wasn’t it supposed to be his damned weekend off rotation? Let Caleb deal with the latest stiff.
Then the thought that the entire station would suspect he’d spent the night of his ex-wife’s latest wedding getting shit-faced drunk sent him stumbling to his car. Yeah, cause his bloodshot eyes and old man shuffle wasn’t going to give the game away, he acknowledged wryly. But while he could take the razzing, he couldn’t take the thought of them feeling sorry for him.
Never that.
He might be a pathetic loser, but he was a pathetic loser who was damned good at his job.
Entering the cul-de-sac, Duncan parked his car and headed into the gray brick house. He ignored the speculative glances from the neighbors that had gathered in a little clutch across the street. He was accustomed to females checking out his spare, well-honed body shown to advantage in a pair of faded jeans and black tee. Even with his short, pale blond hair damp from the shower and his stubborn jaw shadowed with a golden stubble, he had the look of a man who knew what to do with a woman. Match that with a pair of hazel eyes that sparkled with wicked charm and they were like putty in his hands.
The men tended to be more interested in the gun holstered at his side and the hard expression on his lean face that warned he only needed an excuse to kick someone’s ass.
His own attention was focused on the house as he stepped into the small, but elegant foyer. Not the sort of house a young woman could afford without some help. From daddy. Or more likely, from sugar daddy.
Not that he was being sexist.
He couldn’t afford a damned tool shed in this frou-frou neighborhood. Even if his old da chipped in every penny he made driving a cab.
He continued to size up the bold black and white furnishings as a uniformed officer handed him a file with the pertinent details of the case. A beat later another officer arrived to lead him to the back of the house to a sunny kitchen with a perfect view of the pool.
He grimaced as the late spring sunlight sent a stab of agony through his throbbing brain, then lowered his gaze to the female who was laying naked in the middle of the tiled floor.
He wasn’t surprised that she was beautiful. Stunningly beautiful with long hair that glistened with chestnut highlights, pretty features, and a slender body that was tight with the muscles of an athlete.
What did surprise him was the lack of any sort of violence.
She looked like she’d simply lain down in the middle of the floor and quietly passed away.
In his experience, lovely young women who were killed on Sunday morning were beaten to death by a jealous boyfriend or raped and killed by a passing psycho.
Not...what?
His brows jerked together as he took a swift inventory of the kitchen, noting everything was in pristine place, not so much as a coffee mug left in the sink.
It could be the female never used the kitchen, preferring to eat out, or at her lover’s place. It could be she was OCD and her kitchen was always spotless.
But his gut was telling him that someone else had played Merry Maid.
“Hola, O’Conner. Looking a little rough around the edges,” the silver-haired coroner drawled, unfolding a white sheet to drape it over the body. “Heard that Susan found herself a decent man to make an honest woman of her.”
Yeah, so decent he was banging her in Duncan’s own bed.
Flipping off his companion, Duncan opened the file and glanced through the meager info that had been gathered on the female.
“Cause of death?”
“She’s missing her heart.”
Duncan froze, his gaze searching the victim’s unmarred skin and the obvious lack of blood.
“How the hell could she be missing her heart?”
“I don’t know,” Frank admitted, the bite in his raspy voice expressing his opinion of ‘I don’t know’. “But I ran the portable MRI over her three times to be sure.”
The older man could be a pain in the ass to work with, but he knew his shit. Nothing got past his eagle gaze. If he said the female was missing her heart, then she was missing her heart.
Crap. He hated mysteries.
“No DNA?”
“It’s clean.” Another growl as Frank gathered the tools of his trade to pack them in a black leather bag. “Too clean.”
“So a freak?”
“That would be my guess.”

Fun News
Happy Spring :) Well, at least it feels like spring here. The grass is turning green and I have a few flowers starting to bloom. I love this time of year! It always seems like a new beginning...
And speaking of new beginnings (smooth transition, eh :)) I wanted to share some news. Beginning in 2013 I'll be writing a new series. It will be a contemporary paranormal series, (a little more Urban Fantasy than I'm writing now and it will focus on humans with special abilities) but it will still have the same danger and romance and hopefully a sense of humor as my current series...I'll post more info when it gets closer to the release date.
For those who've enjoyed the Guardian series I'll still be continuing with them!! I still have lots of characters that are begging for stories and I can't wait to write them.
Until later,
Alex

My Lord Vampire Review by Bitten by Love Reviews
Alexandra Ivy has been one of my favorite authors for a very long time and for so many good reasons! She snagged my attention & drew me into her world with the Guardians Of Eternity series, (Oh, Levet, how I love thee..;) and now with her first book in The Immortal Rogues series, she is hanging on tight!
My Lord Vampire is a novel that starts "Behind the Veil', a dimension created and inhabited solely by vampires.
Gideon, an immortal vampire, living 'Behind The Veil', is sent back to the human realm to find and protect one of three pieces of "The Medallion", an ancient artifact that could mean the end of the vampire dimension, as they know it and entrusted, to three maidens...
Simone, who is unknowingly the protector of one portion of 'The Medallion', in which Gideon has been sent to guard, is a fiery, beautiful, brilliantly sarcastic woman.. (All Hail Simone!) However, the secret she is hiding may spell the end of not only her very life, but may unknowingly cause her piece of The Medallion to fall into the hands of an incredibly evil, mutinous, vampire who will stop at nothing to get what he wants...
Gideon tries his hardest to stay neutral when it comes to Simone, but she draws him in with her sarcastic but wickedly sensual nature and doesn't let him go.. And Simone, for her credit, tries her best to keep Gideon at arms length but she can't resist such a sexy, powerful man... who just might happen to be a vampire...
Can they come together to save themselves, conquer evil & protect the human & vampire worlds? Oh yes... And they do it so very well... Sparks, flames, then an all-out explosion of chemistry with these very different but incredibly well-suited characters..
Alexandra Ivy knows how to write paranormals with a twist! Mystery, humor, drama, witty banter, funny sidekicks, captivating alpha males and beautiful, intelligent females, along with some downright evil doers, who are so in need of the good smack down that she gives them! I absolutely adore this book and I'm sure you will, also! I'm on the edge of my seat, awaiting the next book in the series!
Thank you, Alex, for taking your amazingly beautiful visuals, incredibly sexy characters with all of their wickedly funny companions and turning them into pure pleasure in a book!!

A lovely review from Two Lips Reviews
Reviewer: Julianne
To keep his people from banishment, Ariyal sold himself to the evil Morgana Le Fey. Ariyal is a Sylvermyst; they are mysterious with a reputation as sinister cousins to the Fey. Ariyal is now free, and life is anything but boring. He faces the elite Vampire Jaelyn, who was sent to capture him, plus he must make sure the Dark Lord stays banished. Jaelyn is beautiful and deadly and has always been alone. She's a Hunter and doesn't have a need for pesky emotions. Now there is Ariyal, Jaelyn senses there is more than just pure lust between them. Ariyal and Jaelyn join forces to save his tribe and the world from the return of the Dark Lord.
Bound by Darkness byAlexandra Ivy is the first book I've read by this author. I was drawn by the cover and the blurb, and didn't realize that it was part of a series. I was captivated by the second page and found Bound by Darkness very difficult to put down. Ms. Ivy has great world building skills and I felt like I was there with Ariyal and Jaelyn. All the characters were very well written; they had depth, emotion, and fun personalities. I loved Ariyal; even after centuries of being a sex slave, he still had a keen sense of humor. He was exciting, loyal, loving, caring, gorgeous, strong, and so unique. Ariyal was also very confident in his abilities, and the sex between him and Jaelyn was scorching hot. Jaelyn was strong willed and a force to be reckoned with. She didn't want her heart or her emotions involved; a Hunter is a killing machine, not a sappy woman with feelings. I was so, so happy when Jaelyn realized she had feelings for Ariyal.
There is a lot of extra plot action going on in Bound by Darkness, with twists and turns that keep the reader turning the pages to find out what happens next. I'm getting the rest of the Guardians of Eternity series and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Teaser for My Lord Vampire
Prologue
Behind the Veil
Gideon glided through the vaulted marble corridors of the Great Hall. A thick hush filled the ancient air, stirred only by the occasional rush of a scurrying servant. It was an unnatural silence. As a rule the spiderweb of corridors were filled with vampires seeking entrance to the vast library or attending the endless debates in one of the antechambers.
There was no greater duty for a vampire than searching for knowledge. It was an insatiable thirst, and the only true desire that had remained since they had left the mortal plane to exist behind the Veil.
It had been nearly two hundred years since the great vampire Nefri had used the Medallion to create the Veil. Two hundred years of serenity and utter peace.
They had left behind the chaos and compulsive passions of the mortal world. They had also left behind the bloodlust that had made vampires as savage and brutal as the humans they preyed upon.
Since then it had been a time of immeasurable greatness for the Immortal Ones. Without the passions and hungers of the flesh they had reached a superior society that transcended any loss of powers they had suffered. Shapeshifting and mist walking that came only from the drinking of human blood were talents needed only for those who hunted.
And vampires no longer hunted.
Or they had not until this morning, Gideon sternly corrected.
A frown marred the fiercely elegant features as he considered the shocking revelations the Great Council had bestowed upon him.
It was near sacrilege to consider the notion that there would be traitors among the vampires. It was simply assumed that they had evolved far beyond petty jealousy and the lust for power. Surely such superior beings would be above the flaws of mere mortals?
Unfortunately there was no means of denying the startling truth that three powerful vampires had recently slipped through the Veil to the world of men. Or that they intended to battle for control of the Medallion.
A chill threatened to pierce the magnificent calm that had shrouded about Gideon for two centuries.
The traitors could not be allowed to gain command of the ancient artifact. With such raw power they could do untold damage. Including ripping the Veil to shreds and challenging the authority of the Great Council itself.
The chaos that would ensue did not bear imagining, Gideon acknowledged with cold determination.
Thank blessed Nefri that she had possessed the sense to realize the impending danger and had managed to separate the Medallion. She had then given the pieces to three maidens who had no notion of the power they held.
The desperate measure had momentarily protected the Medallion from the clutches of the renegades, but it would only be a matter of time before they went in search of the maidens.
Which was precisely why he had been summoned to the Great Hall. Almost reluctantly he glanced down at the dagger he held in his long, pale fingers. In the soft light it appeared nondescript with a smooth ivory handle. Only the trained eye of a vampire could detect the unmistakable shimmer of magic that rippled over the steel blade. His frown deepened.
The mere thought of killing another vampire was utterly repellant. It was perhaps the greatest of sins. He would as soon sacrifice himself. But he had his commands.
He, Lucien and Sebastian were commanded to travel through the Veil and protect the maidens who unwittingly held the Medallion.
By any means necessary.
His fingers clenched about the dagger.
Any means.
